Meet Rebecca!

Hi! I’m Rebecca Peterson. I have carefully curated all our retreats for women to get away for a weekend and do yoga, hike, meditate, go inward and restore!

I look forward to getting to know you and I am here to answer any questions you might have about our retreat and what that will look like!

Yoga found me when I needed a way to cope with a very busy lifestyle while living and working a corporate job in New York City. When I walked the streets with my yoga mat on my back, it often felt like a version of my own Samurai sword, a way to help me navigate a very different world than the one I had imagined I’d be living. It also found me when I was beginning to lose myself and feel disconnected to my “purpose.”

I was initially motivated to practice yoga so that I could calm the mind. It became a gateway into a further understanding of my own body and soul. Without saying a word, I could process complex feelings, experiences and anxiety by moving, breathing and being still. I fell in love. And the call to teach came from that very deep place of wanting to share all this and the personal journey that we all take on and off our yoga mats.

I believe everything could lead back to yogic teachings. It crosses cultural boundaries. It is a way to a deeper healing, knowing, inner wisdom that only connecting with Self can do. I love to witness the way it meets people where they are and offers an opportunity to slowly, sweetly and intuitively guide you to your own answer.

I returned to my roots as a Colorado native and joined a very welcoming yoga community, om time yoga in Denver and Boulder. It was there that I met my very intuitive teacher Shannon Paige. I knew from my first yoga class with her that I would be joining her 200hr Yoga Teacher Training. It is through this amazing opportunity in 2009 that I learned not only how to share this ancient practice in a class setting , but more importantly, how to practice it in a way that was fully embodied and crossed all areas of my life. I met and worked with amazing master yoga teachers like Shiva Rea, Amy Ippoliti, and Jeanie Manchester. I was given the opportunity to sit in meditations led by the amazing Sally Kempton and Douglas Brooks, and many more.

Then in 2011, when I became a mother, I experienced the powerful changes that happen during pregnancy, birth and postpartum. It changed me in so many unexpected ways and inspired me to want to answer the call and offer prenatal yoga classes. I also discovered I could meld my love for all things mindful with birth and teaching Birthing From Within Childbirth Classes, which I continue to offer in Denver and surrounding cities.

I am now enrolled with a 300hr Advanced Yoga Teacher Training with Sherry Sidoti and Dawn Funk Thie, to be completed in October. I am so honored to know and learn from these amazing teachers and get a deeper understanding of the landscape of yoga.

My yoga Retreats:

I created these women-focused retreats to really honor the feminine journey as women and take advantage of the beautiful landscape of Colorado. I am just moved by the way that being in circle with other women, more specifically women on a similar journey, creates community and inclusivity - something I value above all else. Being in community with other woman is not just healing, it's a necessity. And having the time to getaway, listen within and to simply relax is crucial.

I am also an aspiring Minimalist and an avid seeker of SIMPLICITY. I created a Facebook Group to share my love for all things simple; it’s called Simply Living: Becoming a Minimalist, and has over 3100 members sharing in the journey. It is a place I offer community, daily insights into simplifying life and becoming a minimalist going beyond just de-cluttering your home. Inspired by Marie Kondo, The Minimalists, The Minimalist Mom, and Simplicity Parenting, I offer a community dedicated to simplicity so that it can be added to our lives in a doable, non-judgmental way!

My other influences include Kate Northrup, Brene Brown, Kimberly Ann Johnson, and most significantly my children, Skyler and Everly & my amazing, talented husband, Joel, whose loving encouragement and patient listening makes following my calling a reality.
