Are you seeking compassionate, knowledgeable, and non-judgmental support during the early days after your baby comes?

Then a Postpartum Doula may be right for you!

Everything baby needs, birthing people need after birth….

As Kimberly Ann Johnson writes in her amazing book, The Fourth Trimester,

“We have 5 Universal Postpartum Needs:

  1. An extended Rest Period

  2. Nourishing Food

  3. Loving Touch

  4. The presence of wise women and spiritual companionship

  5. Contact with nature”

We aren’t meant to do this parenting thing alone, especially immediately after birth.

A postpartum doula can help support the whole family in all the above ways, with a special focus on what the birthing person needs for healing and stepping into their role.

SO what is a Postpartum Doula?

They provide non-medical support in the important days and weeks following delivery. This support is emotional and physical, as well as informational. And while the postpartum doula does help with infant care, their primary focus is on the birthing person and their family as a whole.

Some of the ways I support new parents include:

  • Prenatal Postpartum Planning, including creating a postpartum plan!

  • Listening + providing emotional support to mom and partner regarding their birth experience + transition concerns.

  • Guiding families back to their breath and mothers, into their bodies - through postnatal yoga and breath work

  • Providing guidance (non-medical) on postpartum physical, emotional + psychological healing.

  • Nourishing the whole family - preparing meals, grocery shopping + meal planning, postpartum nutrition.

  • Educating on infant care - bathing, swaddling, calming baby, baby-wearing, diapering, sleep, etc...

  • Providing support with feeding your baby - breastfeeding or bottle feeding (or both) - including paced feeding and pumping/preparing for returning to work.

  • Doing light household chores - including dishes, laundry, tidying up

  • Providing baby care while parents/mothers nap, shower, have time for self

  • Birth Story Processing - compassionate listening to help process the birthing process.

REVIEWS FROM FAMILIES I HAVE WORKED WITH

Rebecca is a warm-hearted, genuinely kind soul who has been tremendously helpful to my family and me as a Postpartum Doula. She is always on the lookout for ways to be supportive - whether that’s through holding my 4 month old daughter so I can get a break, helping with light house work, accompanying me out in public as I learn what it means to run errands with an infant, or providing a compassionate, listening ear. Also, Rebecca has taught me many of ways playing with my daughter that support her physical development. I can’t recommend Rebecca enough! We are so grateful for her!”
— Jen, Postpartum Doula Client
The first few weeks postpartum are challenging in ways no one can prepare you for. I knew going into parenthood that it was going to be hard, but I had no idea how hard. Rebecca eased my husband and I into our new roles with the gentleness and grace of a saint. She made sure we were well fed, well rested, and allowed us to vent. Never once did I feel as though she was judging us. Rebecca has a very calm sense about her, she is the epitome of an old soul.

She taught me how to be a mom and for that I’ll be forever grateful.
